The Skynax software platform
works by establishing a secure, yet open framework through which
mobile business applications can communicate with
back-office business applications.
This framework also
facilitates the exchange of information
between Skynax applications in order to perform device
management as well as monitor system-wide performance.
A mobile business application
that needs to receive or send data does so by requesting
that the
Skynax Client (also installed on the same mobile computer)
make available to it a specific server-side Skynax process. A process is a registered link to a
subroutine which is callable within a Skynax Server Plug-In.
The subroutine
is then responsible for handling the processing that the mobile
business application needs to perform - such as
uploading or downloading files from a central server or
querying a back-office SQL database.
The Skynax Client establishes,
transparently to the mobile business application, a connection from the handheld computer to a
Skynax Gateway and authenticates the handheld computer
and optionally, also its user. After the Skynax Client
has successfully completed this
authentication process it is redirected to a
Skynax Server (which has assigned to it a Skynax Server Plug-In
that is capable of handling the given request) to begin
processing the data being exchanged with the mobile
business application.
The Skynax Enterprise Edition
provides the highest level of performance and
scalability. To achieve this, the Enterprise Edition is
designed using a distributed computing architecture,
allowing the peak processing load to be balanced between
a virtually unlimited number of Skynax Gateways and
Skynax Servers. These independent, and possibly
geographically distant Skynax applications, work
together to provide a powerful and fault-tolerant system
that keeps your mobile system running.
The Skynax Manager provides
your IT Manager with complete centralized control over
your mobile business system. This application is used to
fully configure the Skynax system, monitor system-wide
performance and manage all
mobile computers.

What's in a Connection?
The Skynax Client is an intelligent
application. It is capable of establishing
multiple
simultaneous sessions within a single connection in order to maximize the utilization of the
current connection's bandwidth and improve the
total communications response time.
