Skynax R6.1 will now allow your back-office business
applications to directly create "push messages" that
will be delivered through Skynax to targeted mobile
computers. Push messages contain business data that is
destined for a mobile business application. The data in
a push message can be used by a mobile business
application to update its local database (such as when
adding a new stop to a parcel pick-up route or creating
a new service ticket in a field-service operation) as
well as used to trigger your mobile business application
to connect to your company's central servers and upload
newly collected business data (such as new customer
orders or completed delivery notes.) Supporting the
on-demand flow of information through the supply chain,
the Skynax Push Messaging service provides a new level
of business data exchange flexibility. It can speed up
your customer response time and also improve your return
on investment in mobile computer communications
technology for WLAN and WWAN mobile phone networks.
Most of us have the experience of being in the middle of
a large file download only to lose our connection. In
mobile computing we only need to briefly drop out of
mobile phone service coverage to have our download
interrupted. And on older dial-up connections, dropped
lines and slow speeds sometimes seem to go hand-in-hand.
If your company has large numbers of mobile device
users, then such interruptions are not only frustrating
but can also increase your expense with lost time and
redundant communication sessions. Skynax R6.1 address
this problem by allowing your mobile computers to
automatically, quickly and reliably pick up at the point
of file download failure and continue downloading the
remaining part of the file, as soon as your connection
can be reestablished.
To extend the reach of mobile computer users, companies are making
increased use of public networks, such as WWAN mobile phone networks,
in their mobile computing systems. A company's internal private network is typically
shielded from these public networks using a router and
firewall configured to provide network address
translation services for IP communications between the
private and public network. To facilitate mobile
computer access from a public network to resources in
the private network, Skynax supports the Microsoft VPN
Client. This client provides authentication and secure
IP tunneling between a mobile computer and a company's
private network, however, it also adds additional
overhead in communications and infrastructure
administration. Now with Skynax R6.1 you can directly access
Skynax Gateways and Skynax Servers located behind a
company firewall or router, without having to use the
Microsoft VPN Client. This new capability provides
improved communications performance, easier server-side
network administration and secure business data
transmission using native Skynax system security.
Would you like to be able to distribute files to your
mobile computers and have them set as read only, hidden,
system or archive?
Skynax R6.1 has an improved Skynax Packager that allows
file attributes to be set for individual files within
each downloadable package that you create. When this new
package is remotely transmitted to a mobile computer,
the Skynax Client will install the package on the
device, preserving the file attributes that you have set
for each file in the package.
The Skynax SDK has always provided software developers
with a feature rich C++ API through which a programmer can
attach their mobile application to the Skynax Client. The Skynax SDK for R6.1 now also provides a
COM API with complete COM interface documentation for
programmers that are developing mobile business
applications using .NET
